Grom the Myth?  I even did some research, and here I bring you the TRUE story of Grom the Paunch:

Grom initiated the Goblin Wars when he slew Wulfrun Willowhand, King of the Northern Dwarfs, in a drunken brawl. The cause of the dispute is not recorded, although the relative merits of Old Sam's Brown and Bugman's Best may have been responsible. Grom led the armies of the Goblins in some of their most notable victories, for a Goblin he was a fine tactician and soldier. He was not a pure bred Goblin but of mixed ancestry and presented the appearance almost of an especially ugly Ogre. He was known as 'The Paunch of Misty Mountain' because he was so fat.

Grom selected his guard from the dregs of Goblin society - the, outcasts; creatures who were half Goblin and half Orc. These guards were especially large and vicious. Their armour was scavenged from the early battlefields of the war, and their weaponry was forged at the Dwarf smithy of Zhuf Field after its fall to Grom's armies.

Grom was killed in the first onslaught on the Dwarf fortress of the Middenheim. From then on they were led by the regimental Champion, Crud Longbone. Crud was an unusually tall, thin and lanky Goblin with a distinctively long nose. Crud and the remainder of Grom's guards were exterminated at the final battle of the war at Mad Dog Pass.

That is the 2nd/3rd edition orcs & goblins. Orc & Goblins bred like every other type of animal. That was before the whole Orcs are a fungus idea was introduced by GW. Back then there were half-orc mercenary units. They were called "Scabbies".

Orks with a "k" breed like fungus, when they shed spores.  I don't think Orcs with a "c" do.  I think it is left to the imagination.

For the record, the latest iteration of Grom has him having eaten a plate of raw troll meat, and adopting troll-like characterisitcs.  For the record, I think the interbreeding makes for more interesting background.

Nope, all Orcs are fungus now. I don't recall it in the O&G book, but I do remember seeing it in the WFRPG Bestiary and is also in WAR. There are going to be no female Orc & Goblin character in the game, all male.

Remember, WFRPG and WAR are made by other companies, and nothing in them is law.

So far I've seen no reference in Warhammer Fantasy rulebooks saying that Orcs are made of fungus.

Maybe they're both male and female?

40k books have this referenced I think.  Of course this does not mean that this equates to WFB as well.

Bob, GW is very protective of their IP and everything Green Ronin and Mythic have to put out has to be OKed by GW. All I have read about companies that work with GW, getting the go ahead for ideas can be like pulling teeth sometimes.

If anything, it makes it a fact-de-jour, till GW puts out something contradicting it.

uh... hmmm....

this is my understandings from many many moons ago, when Wood elves could fire 36" and there was no such thing as a organization chart...

Orks and Goblins are Greenskins, which means that they are a result of unusal fungus growth that happens, normally, under ground (almost like a bulb, or a Turnip). when they are old enough, the emerge from the ground. this is why there are no children orks or goblins, no parents, nor any other family ties. at best they tribe around the battle field they emerged from.

as Orks and Goblins fight in battle, their blood acts as spores and plants new generations of Greenskins to come to arms. I'm a little shakey on the facts here, as this was well over 7 or 8 years ago, but Scabbies were results of a "Blooming" Ork "Bulb" mixing with human blood, or remains. Chaos Dwarves were especially talented at engineering the way Orks grew and developed "Black Orks" as superior slaves that were stronger and smarter then the typical ork.

this is why Orks crave the battle field and believe that they always win every fight they fight in. If they die, their blood plants a new ork to grow and continue the fight, if they Live, they get a new chance to spill blood and grow more orks. 'Waaagh'ing is similar to their mating season, but with the random start of a life span in greenskins, it doesn't happen at anyone time of the year, just simply their way of having an eternal clock go off.

their is a growth connection to the amount of blood spilt too, but I don't quite remember what, just that small nose bleeds can cause snotlings to sprout, and that's where they got thier name.
