BL Book Nagash the Sorcerer - WTF???

Has anyone here read the Black Library book Nagash the Sorcerer?

I finished chapter 2 and I'm totally confused. 
Chapter 1 -1750 Imperial Reckoning (I think it means negative, but it could just be a poorly placed dash)
Chapter 2 -1968 Imperial Reckoning
Chapter 3 -1750 Imperial Reckoning

1 and 2 read like they took place back to back, but they jumped back in time over 200 years for chapter 2?  I'm so confused.  Should I bother going on and trying to make sense of it?  Can someone clue me in? 

I hate books that try to be clever but end up not doing it clearly enough to get and just being annoying.

I think you should keep going.  It's a little like the Highlander T.V. show.  They jump around, but it all makes sense in the end.  As you already know that Nagash will become a evil dude, going in a normal storyline would ruin some of the wonder...
