Oh please, don’t delude yourself.  That “list” is right up there with the Samurai “list”, the Arabian “list“, and what the hell, my Grandmothers “list”.  It’s fine for one off games with your friends, but don’t waste your time and money (unless you’ve got time and money to waste) on painting/collecting that army.

And it is accepted by the Indy GTs as a legal list.

I participated in the whole making of this list; played a handful of play-test, and supplied as much feedback as I could.  The final list kind of leaves me baffled.  While I like the idea of the "daemonic" warmachines, that addition was at the very end of play testing, and very few games were played with them.  I like the feel, but having T5 "warmachines" means that your machines are very vulnerable to shooting and magic; compared to other machines.
Some of that stuff in the list was added at the late minute and completely skipped playtesting altogether.

While legal for GT's, my suggestion for anyone thinking about an army is come up with a list that works for both the Ravening Hordes rules, and the GT rules.

So really, it's just like the current GW armies with core stuff being well-playtested supplemented by  other semi-random stuff being thrown in at the last minute.

Pretty much.  I'd say 2/3rds of the playtesting was people going for a specific theme (like all hob-goblins), with very little of the playtesting on how broken the list is/could be.

Thankfully the early version magic phase, where everything is bound spells with a special lore of magic, was tossed out.

I actually like the list. It doesn't seem broken. I don't even mind the toughness 5 war machines. I like all of the choices. I'm even comtemplating buiding the list. I wouldn't mind play testing against some people in the near future. If the pacific marauders like it and allow its use I might even build the list. But I do agree with Matt that it should be built to accomodate both ravening hordes and the indy army book.

That sounds about right, although, I'd expect any new, official version of Chaos Dwarves to have their own Lore of Magic, possibly supplemented by Fire, Metal & Death.

So have any of the ‘I like this list’ gamers out in the San Diego community play tested the Chaos Dwarf list yet?  I haven’t seen, or heard of anyone doing it.  Any regulators from the Broadside Bash judges laid down and give this list a once over yet?  I’d hate to see them make the same misjudgment they made with the Skaven ‘Bubonic List’.

I have not seen anything in the list that is worse than any other "official" army book.  However its the actual play that will show how the list can be broken.

Get Bamma to play it with you, he's the master of 'loop holes'.

Bull Centaurs are awesome as special choices.
You can get 4 bolt throwers, along with 2 bull centaur units, and a pair of earth shakers to pin/slow down your opponents.
Add in a level 4 wizard, and 3 dwarves with bound 5 magical weapons(daemon smiths), and you have a very strong magic phase.

Mounting those daemonsmith on the chariot gives you a good rank breaking unit.

Add in dwarves as core (with eruption guns), blunderbuss dwarves, and then blow left-over points and dirt cheap hobgoblins/rabble, and you have a very effective army.

No real weakness to the army.  Good leadership, good shooting, great magic, good melee, cheap disposable units and fast moving elite combat units.

From the few games I play-tested, the daemon smiths are a must.  Rolling up a spell and having it always go off is so good.  I went up against a bound 5 wall of fire, a bound 5 burning head, and a bound 5 fiery blast.

I would have more fun taking on this list any day of the week than take on an optimized daemon/vampire list.
