For those of you that missed it, here are a couple quick pictures from my phone. We clipped, shaved, trimmed and glued from about 10am until 3pm. Wade took the models home to prime and glue sand to the bases. Next is airbrushing the basecoats by John and Aaron then on to the big painting day. Thanks Wade, Drew, Tom, Ray, Marko, Jon and everyone that stopped by the chat and hang out. Raffle tickets are now available for $1 each. You can give me money in person or send it via Paypal to chris@pacificmarauders.com. And a big thanks to those of you who already sponsored boxes and bought raffle tickets. Quite a few of you have done it so far!

Well, the entire army is based and the base coat colors have been airbrushed on.  I painted the base coat on a few things by hand (terradon, howda, slann pananquin), because it was easier than cleaning another bottle after airbrushing.

So when are we doing the painting?

Any news on the status of the real army prize, the Scar vet?

I will be at Game Empire on Sunday morning with the raffle army, hopefully to get it completed.  The only thing left are final touches on the Saurus and temple guards.  Come help finish off this project for a worthy cause.

Complete: Skinks, Terradons, Salamanders, steggie howda
Painting being done by Shawn: Stegadon, Slann (both almost done)
Painting being done by John M: Kroxigor

Waiting for Scar vet sculpt from Tre, Aaron to paint.

I also got movement trays donated by Shogun Miniatures!  Please visit their site and buy often from them.  Custom trays and magnetic bases!

I got the 2nd part of the auction from Mantic Games - 50 elves+a boltthrower and crew.  Originally I thought we were getting a painted army, but I think that will be the Warlord minis.  Regardless, great thanks to Mantic, these models look great on person.

And here are some pics of the finished army.  The Slann and kroxigor are not here yet, they should be done shortly.  I also got the metal trays from Shogun Minis for the army, thanks to Shogun.  We will start selling raffle tickets next week, and will continue until the BSB, day 2.  We'll probably do the drawing on Sunday between games 4 and 5.

More info on the raffle:

It’s been signed by the designers behind it, that’s: -

I’m sure you’ll agree it’s quite a collection of gaming industry legends.

Brookhurst Hobbies is donating a Battle for Skull Pass and a WFB Rulebook for the raffle too!!

Congrats to Tom for winning the army!  And thanks to all for contributing.  We brought in $932 for the charity.

Doing this took a lot of time and effort, it was nice to see some good come out of it.  Because of that time and effort, I'm not sure if we will do it again, but if someone else wants to take our lead and organize and do a lot of the non-painting related work for the next one, I'd certainly pitch in next time.

The auction is cool, but you need more slave labor.
Maybe a painting competition, followed up later by an action.  It may work better with a 40K army, where units can be a little more rag-tag.  Enter the painting comp and paint up a small unit (like 12 boyz) or a trukk.  Winner of the painting comp gets some sort of prize/trophy, and then all the painted models go toward the army.  Anyway, just a thought.
