As with Sgt S in the fantasy board, I got no love in the 40K board so I'll try it out here. Any suggestions?
Ok, some I’m wondering what exact list to bring to the Broadside Bash. The following list is what I was considering:
HQ: Marshall Terminator Honors, Master Crafter Lightning Claws, Iron Halo, Frag and Krak Grenades, Infiltrate. Command Squad: Apothecary, Champion, Sergeant with Terminator Honors and a Power Fist. 4 Additional Marines: two with a Melta Gun, three with Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon. Everyone infiltrates.
Master of Sanctity Terminator Honors, Bolt Pistol, Infiltrate. Command Squad: Champion, Sergeant with Terminator Honors and a Power Fist. 4 Additional Marines: two with a Melta Gun, three with Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon. Everyone infiltrates.
The Emperor’s Champion Accept any Challenge, no matter the odds (Everyone has preferred enemy)
Elites: Sword Brethren Squad 7 Veterans, one with a Melta gun, one with a pair of lightning claws, the rest with Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon.
Ordo Malleus Inquisitor Power Armor, Plasma Pistol, Null Rod, Emperor’s Tarot
Troops: Crusader Squad 10 Marines, one with a Melta gun, one with a Power Fist, the rest with Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon.
Crusader Squad 5 Marines, one with a Melta gun, one with a Power Fist, the rest with Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon. Razorback, Twin Linked Lascannons, Pintle Mounted Storm Bolters.
Crusader Squad 5 Marines, one with a Melta gun, one with a Power Fist, the rest with Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon. Razorback, Twin Linked Lascannons, Pintle Mounted Storm Bolters.
Heavy Support: Land Raider Crusader Blessed Hull, Hunter Killer Missile, Pintle Mounted Storm Bolter
So the plan was to have three infiltrating squads go hold objectives early and counter assault where necessary. Meanwhile the 10 man squad, the inquisitor and the Emperor’s Champion hold up in the crusader and move forward. The two Razorback squads provide fire support.
However, for theme reasons I was considering changing the Champion’s Vow to Abhor the Witch, dropping the Veteran Squad to five members and giving them a Rhino, and changing all veteran skills to Furious Charge. I would no longer have any infiltrator and my command squads would be foot slogging, but it would fit the anti-psychic theme I was going for with the Inquisitor and the Null Rod.
What do you think? I am not looking at re-working the whole list as I’ll never get it painted in time. But is the infiltrate better or is the theme better?

Not bad, but having those two infilitrating HQ squads potentially puts two rather expensive units in a forward (ie - vulnerable position). Also, I can't remeber: can the emperor's champion join squads?
Anyways, Hello all. New to the board, and relatively new to this group (not yet a club member, hope to change that at BSB). I've only participated at one other event by you folks and I wanted an opinion.
I've got a nice, balanced, themed Tyranid army that I am considering bringing. The issue is that it's a Godzilla army, and I was wondering if it would be welcome (I've had some whining and complaining in the past). Yes, I said balanced. It's a minimum number of rippers, with only the 'fexes and Tyrants (sometimes 3 winged warriors for flavor, but they don't match the theme). I consider 8 effective units that are outnumbered 5 or more to one balanced, and I've been beaten quite handily any number of times.
Honest opinions are welcome. If not them, I'll be playing either a SM army or a SM/Inquisitor hybrid, so I'll be there either way. However, these tournaments usually include droves of SM players, hence the offer of the 'nids.

Bring the Nid Zilla!!! It's always an interesting list to have on the table, regardless of what your opponents may say. Most armies tool up to face the SM Shooty army from Hell, so your nids will either face rending Assault cannons, lascannons, plasma, etc or assaulty armies with numerous power weapons. Hopefully, your army is painted See you at the BSB! Richard

I like the army. It's very in your face, the infiltrators should be able to get to the enemy a turn earlier if not sooner while most of the army rolls up behind them in the tanks. I think the army looks good as it is. The Inq is there for anti psyker while the marines are there to dish out a hurting.

DB, how will you account for the horde armies that will sneak in at the last minute? The lascannon love is spread evenly around, so I think the High Str, low AP aspect is covered and you have decent Power weapons to dish it out in CC. Monsterous creatures and high initiative packs of troops will give you some heart burn. But, from the list of participants in 40k, it doesn't seem like that is going to be an issue. Chances seem like you'll draw a MEQ army to fandango with! Nice list, I can't wait to see it in person!

Okay Sarge, you got it. Yes, the 'nids are painted (and a damn sight better than my marines, sadly), all I need to do is decorate the bases and build a board for moving them around. The nice thing about a zilla army is that 2000 points fits in the average shoe box, but while convenient, thats rather tacky.

Landraider Crusader. Plus they're Black Templars, the more bad guys the better. I played a few practice games with them and if I could roll higher than a two I'd really be doing well!!! Now I just have to finish painting the last couple of models and baseing them. Good thing I just got laid off....

As of today, there are only 11 players signed up for the 40K event. Is there any fear that the event might be cancelled, or prizes reduced if the numbers do not rise significantly?
Thanks,
Darrian

11 players. You mean I might have a chance at getting 11th place!!! Cool!!! That's better than I did in the last tournament I played in!!

Only the apocylapse templates did not get ordered and will not be due to the low turn out. The army box is a bit of an issue since we got a linebreaker box instead. we will be working on that issue but prizes will not be reduced by much.
